Pricing

The cost for a unit of electricity is split into two components:

  • The Fixed Cost Component and
  • The Fuel Cost component
Fuel Cost per Unit

The Fuel Cost component is the cost of the fuel required to generate each unit of electricity, and is billed to you for every unit you consume
Currently, this cost is 22p per unit

Fixed Cost per Unit

This is the cost of maintaining the distribution system (the wires and cable used to bring the electricity to your house), the cost of maintaining the Power Station, the cost of maintaining the generators and the staff and salaries associated with this.

There are two different fixed Costs:

  • The Standard Rate, charged for the first 400 units of electricity you use each quarter, and
  • The Reduced Rate, charged on any units used after the 400 Standard rate units

Currently, the Standard rate is 26p per unit and the reduced rate is 25p per unit.

Standing Charge

In addition we levy a Standing charge of £6.00 each quarter to cover the cost of meter reading, billing and maintaining your supply cable and meter.

Billing

Bills are sent out quarterly, in January, April, July and October.
